Wednesday March 27th, we were able to leave the hospital that afternoon. We got discharged around 2:30 pm and it felt so nice to be home. Even though we only live 4 blocks from the hospital, it felt like we were so far away! My parents and Carter showed up that night around 12:00 am. I was able to be up and about for the first week, but couldn't be up too long before I was exhausted. I healed pretty well and fairly quick. Mom kept having to get after me for helping make food and cleaning up. We would go on short walks (even though it felt like my uterus was going to fall out!) to help build back up my strength and get some fresh air.
We went to the doctor for the newborn check-up and they were a little concerned with jaundice so they wanted to check him again the next day. My mom had him sun bathing in the window for the next 2 days to get some sunlight so that it would hopefully go away on his own. We lucked out and he did end up being able to pull through! He is one tough cookie!
Dean slept pretty well for the first 2 weeks of his life. He would eat about every 2 hours. I could manage that! About that time, he started having the little bubble smiles. He has such a cute smile! My mom could not believe how well behaved he was. She also said he did not look like a newborn baby.
I was pretty sad to see my mom leave. It was nice to have her here to help and just be an extra set of hands.
Dean loves to have his bum changed. He squawks like a little coyote a lot! He loves to sleep with his hands up by his face. When he is hungry, he gets HANGRY! He sleeps pretty good through the night. We had a couple rough nights a few days back, but that may have been a growth spurt they go through.

Dean has had a belly ache the last couple of days. He struggles to want to eat a full belly because his stomach ache and he has to burp or toot. It has been harder for him to toot. He has been having about 1 or 2 bigger poops a day that seem to make him feel a little better afterwards. It has been a hard couple of nights. Lots of crying and struggling to stay a sleep. This mama is tired and feels so bad for him. He took a bath this last week and did not think it was that great. He started to scream a couple minutes into the bath.

Dean has been in our lives for 1 month. One whole month!
Dean loves to ride in the car. Thank goodness! He either wants to be held and cuddled or just left alone and lay down flat on his back. Dean has a super strong neck and wants to look around at everything. He started holding his head up really well after 1 week. He is starting to love his baths a little bit more and enjoyed the one we gave him today. No tears this time!
We have found the swing helps him be able to sleep a lot longer instead of waking up so much. He loves to look outside and loves to just be outside as well.
Mikal is really good at getting the toots and burps out of Dean.
We have started getting a few smiles out of him.
We got some pictures back of him that our friend took when he was a little over a week old. We love him so much!
