Growing a little one
After we found out that I was pregnant with one little baby. We were overjoyed! We couldn't believe that it could actually happen!
I felt pretty good up to 6 weeks when I had my first ultrasound with the fertility doctor to make sure everything was in good standing before he sent me on my merry way to the OB-GYN. This pictures below was taken on August 10th, 2018. When we were at the 6 week appointment, the doctor told me that I did not have to take the shots in the butt anymore, but could change to the pill 3 times a day. I was relieved, but also nervous that would forget to take the hormone pills. The doctor told me that I would have to take them till about 12 weeks.
After I switched, I started to feel a little more nauseous than usual and nothing sounded good to eat. I had little mini cravings every once and a while, but nothing that I had to have all the time. I would cook dinner and then by the time I finish cooking, I couldn't eat what I made. Meat was a hard one. I could eat it in things, but I could not eat it solid. (which is a bad thing because we had just gotten a whole bunch of cow meat from my uncle Rick and then butchered a pig as well)
I finally made an appointment with the OB-GYN at Season's Medical and their next appointment wouldn't be until I was 13 weeks. I went to Mexico at 11 weeks to help my sister with the baby and visit her so I couldn't make it in until after I got back from there. While I was in Mexico, I don't know if its because of all the smells or that I couldn't just go get what I wanted to eat all the time, but I threw up a couple times. Those were the only times I threw up during the pregnancy! I was so happy! September 24th, 2018 was my first appointment with the OB-GYN and Mikal was in Washington picking apples to bring back to sell in Rexburg. I told him that there wouldn't anything big done at my first appointment. I was wrong. The ultrasound tech asked me if I wanted to know the gender! I told her to put it in the envelope so that I could open it with Mikal. I felt bad! I called him after my appointment and I opened up the envelope to find out she said it was a BOY!! Mikal started to cry. (he is a very emotional being) The ultrasound tech told us to not tell a lot of people because she could be wrong, but she said she hadn't been wrong yet with the ultrasounds she has done. I had at this time, started to crave things a little bit. I really liked Cheeto puffs, apples, and baby nachos from Taco Bell. I noticed I started getting a little bit of allergies and heartburn has started hitting me a little harder now.
October 21st, 2018 I was laying on the couch waiting for Mikal so that we could go eat dinner at our friends house. I suddenly felt a little movement in my lower part of my belly. Nothing like gas or digestion, it had to have been the baby moving! I told Mikal and he was so excited! Ever since then, I have felt the little one move more consistently in my uterus! My mom explained it as little butterfly flutters.
The next day, October 22nd, I had my next appointment with the doctor. I was 17 weeks. He is the size of a pear right now. They did blood work (since I forgot to last appointment) and then got to hear the baby's heartbeat on the probe. Mikal came with me to that appointment. (I thought I would get another ultrasound) Mikal wanted to see the baby so he asked the nurse about getting one, and she said you can check with the front and pay a small fee to have a "fun ultrasound" done. So that is what we did. We wanted to make sure it was a boy because we were going to announce it on that day. Sure enough, it was still a boy. The tech guessed correctly!
My belly is starting to show now. It is in the awkward phase where it hurts to button up some of my pants. The ultrasound tech said I was really small for being 17 weeks! (But I think she is just used to everyone else who is bigger now) I feel pretty big, and I am only just going to get bigger! She said the baby is growing good, and she gave us 10 pictures! She was just so excited :)

Our announcement we did that day and here are some of the pictures we posted!
Week 20! Half way point- size of a banana
I went in for the ultrasound today to make sure the anatomy of little baby was growing good. She said everything was growing where it was supposed to! The tech said that he has LONG legs and arms. (just like his dad) and he weighs 12 ounces. (the size of a Mt. Dew can) My placenta is covering my cervix right now, but the tech said they usually move by the time the baby is ready to be birthed. If they placenta does not move, then we will have to do a C-section to get him here.
Here are some more pictures! My belly is starting to grow and get a little more uncomfortable. I have found that chocolate makes me have heartburn a lot quicker than normal as well. I bought my first outfit since knowing that it was a boy the other day. We went to Ross and found it. Mikal approved :)
I get tired pretty easily now and sleeping is even worse since I love sleeping on my stomach.
He moves a lot now and I can feel him move constantly. When I get home from work, I instantly run to the bedroom and put on sweats.
We are getting so excited for the little one to arrive. I have found a rock n' play and swing on Rexburg Garage Sales and got them for a great deal! Kira will be giving me her car seat since it will expire within the next 2 years.
I wear baggy shirts all the time and cover my belly right now since it looks like I just have a little pooch forming. I have to unbutton my top button on my pants as well.

22 Weeks
The past two weeks have been rough. Little one is growing and starting to show a lot more. I found out that any kind of chocolate makes me have heart burn so that is out of the intake of food I eat.
I have been sick for over a week now. I am pretty sure I got this nasty cold from teaching primary. I started getting a sore throat on Wednesday before Thanksgiving and then I was blowing my nose constantly on Thanksgiving day. So much drainage! I haven't been sick in a long time! Thanksgiving was very yummy and I filled my need of eating mashed potatoes and gravy and yams!
Friday I woke up not feeling the greatest. I got pretty light headed and thought I was going to throw up. I ran to the bathroom and leaned my head over the sink as I sat on the toilet. Thank goodness I did not throw up, but I felt a lot better after going to the bathroom. I went and laid down and took a nap. The rest of the day I was just tired, but felt just fine. I am just so tired of blowing my nose every 15 minutes!
Traveling was not bad at all, except in our car the passenger side leaks air down by your feet so my feet froze the whole way.
24 Weeks- size of an ear of corn
I am still getting over the cold that I got during Thanksgiving. I had a doctors appointment today and everything went well. They said I am measuring right at 24 weeks still. He still moves quite a bit, but they are stronger punches now instead of little flutters. I still have pretty bad heartburn randomly. It is getting harder to squat. (This must mean I need to do core and leg strengthening yoga instead of just stretching yoga) The other night I did a yoga session and little man went crazy kicking after I had finished. He must have not liked it at all! He is definitely showing really well now. It isn't very easy to conceal anymore
26 Weeks - Size of a head of cauliflower
December 24th marked 26 weeks. We were able to get some pictures together in front of our Christmas tree! He has been kicking stronger and strong and its pretty fun to watch my belly move. I am getting more uncomfortable sitting for long periods of time and if I lay down on the couch in any position, my legs start losing blood. I sleep with my body pillow and a regular pillow on the other side of me. I sweat a lot more at night and wake up every time I have to roll over. The doctor at my last appointment told me to do more yoga (in the morning and at night) and keep active. I recently found out when I logged into my client portal with the office, that I have gained 17 pounds since the pregnancy. (this was at 24 weeks) I have no clue where I am at now because we do not have a scale in the house. I looked on a chat and noticed that I was on the higher end of gaining weight for my size and where I am at in my pregnancy. I decided I will walk more and try to get my heart rate up more as well. The doctor didn't seem too concerned for me, but I had a mini panic attack and called my mom. (I'm just hoping that this little one comes about 2 weeks early). Mikal is getting pretty excited and talks to my belly a lot. He told me the other morning that he wishes that he was already out of my belly. I was like, "No way! He needs to grow a couple more months before he can come!"
We traveled down to Whitney and Tyrel's house to help with a tiling job in their kitchen and their little girl Taylee kept asking where my baby was and lifting up my shirt haha. I told her that he was sleeping a lot. haha
Chocolate is one of the culprits of this heartburn that I keep getting, and I am sad because there is a lot of chocolate going around this time of year!
28 Weeks
I found out I still have placenta previa. Which is a bummer. The doctor scheduled me another appointment the beginning of February to check and see if my placenta has not moved. It not he said we may have to just schedule a C-section around 36 weeks because he does not want to have a tear or burst in the placenta. We were able to get a 3D image with this ultrasound and found out he has quite the lips and cheeks! He is going to be one plump little guy!
Baby is still kicking very strong and I still have heartburn quite a bit. There must be more food that I shouldn't be eating, but I have not figured that out yet.
30 Weeks
I have been having problems with pain in my right leg- right where my hip and leg connect. It makes me walk with a limp. I have to pick up my leg a lot to move it because the pain is pretty bad. I have been busy with work. I have been putting in 60 hour weeks because I got a new job description at work. I am now the payroll specialist. I got thrown in at the end of the year and had to figure out how to do everything payroll related and 4th Quarter reports and Year End reports as well. It has been very stressful and I don't sleep much at night because I dream of payroll. Hopefully baby and I can make it through the rest of the month and it should definitely calm down for me! I have heartburn like crazy now. Nothing can stop it. I just get it. I can't stand very long before I have problems with my leg and get light headed. I have been trying to eat and drink more, but it is hard with all the stress of work.
32 Weeks
I am done with 4th Quarter and Year End reports! Both little one and I made it! We survived! (barely)
I went in for an appointment to get my placenta previa checked... and good news!!!! We did a regular ultrasound over the tummy and got to see little man. He was pretty active. We got to see him open and close his eye as well as move his eyebrows up and down. It was pretty great! The ultrasound tech was pretty excited and rewound the video so we could it a couple times. We also found out that his head is down and his back comes up the left side of my uterus with his feet towards the right. She wasn't able to get a good view of the placenta, so we did a vaginal one and found out that I my placenta has moved to be 1.3 centimeters away from my cervix. The doctor said after the placenta is 2 centimeters away we are good to have a natural birth. Cross your fingers! So now I have marginal placenta previa. He has been pretty strong lately with his moving. and a couple times his little bum goes into my ribs and I have to push him down. He gets the hiccups a lot. It drives me crazy at work while I sit all day long.
Nora has gotten a baby shower in the making for us. We are pretty excited to see everyone!
I have started to waddle and I like to pick up my belly and carry it to make it lighter.
The other night he must have been on something in my stomach because my belly hurt sooooo bad and I could not get comfortable and ended up moving to the couch, which did not help at all. I haven't been sleeping good and it will only get crazier! He pushes my belly a ton and makes me so lopsided all the time!
We will check back in with the doctor at 34 weeks and then do another ultrasound of 36 weeks to check my placenta again. Still have not seen any stretch marks, and no Braxton Hicks from what I can tell!
34 Weeks
Last week was really bad. Mikal went down to Nevada to help finish tiling Whitney & Tyrel's kitchen. He was only supposed to be down there for a couple days. He ended up being down there a week and a half. We had a big storm here and they also had one in Nevada. He got stuck down there for a few days because of the weather. As he was getting ready to leave, his pickup wheel started acting up. He made it to Burley and ended up having to use my uncle Dave Ricks place to replace the wheel bearing. He finally made it home around 8 pm that night! I was so excited. I got a really bad cold right after he left and had to leave work a couple times to come home and sleep and try and feel better. It was really bad. My throat was on fire and my nose would not stop running. I lost my voice a bit and could barely function. Lets just say it was an awful time while he was gone. Good thing I did not have to cook much dinners.
Baby still has been moving like crazy. He is still head down which is great. His little back goes up the left side of my belly and he pushes his feet on the right side of the middle of my belly and back. I found out that I have been having round ligament pain. The doctor gave me stretches to have Mikal help me with to prepare for the baby and help with the round ligament pain.
We had the baby shower on Friday night of 34 weeks and had a blast! There was a lot of people there!

Nora and Cari did a great job and had great decorations! It was fun to hang out and talk with everyone! It was a John Deere theme and we had a blast! We are going to have a little country boy!
Still no stretch marks. Just a growing belly! Heartburn is not horrible, but found that ice cream helps calm it. He keeps waking me up around 4 am in the morning and won't stop moving. We are getting closer and closer to the due date and it seems so crazy to me! I looked up a newborn picture at 34 weeks and could not believe how big he was! I am exhausted a lot more. He is taking a lot of energy out of me. We are getting more and more prepared. We got quite a bit of things at the baby shower, but still need diapers and wipes. Learning more and more about little advice my friends give me to help make it easier for the after birth.
36 Weeks
We made it to the final month! Heartburn is hit and miss. We have been buying lots of ice cream to help calm my stomach. When we went to the appointment this week, we found out that my placenta has only moved about .5 centimeters. It is now 1.75 centimeters. The doctor aid that 3 would be ideal, but I should be okay. We scheduled an induction date just to be on the safe side when this little man comes. March 25th. Its surreal now! I have been going to the pool 2 times a week to help lift the weight off and exercise/stretch. It helps. I have been sitting on a yoga ball at work, hoping that will induce my labor. I have noticed a little more contractions now, but nothing consistent at all. I will start having appointments every week now. He is getting stronger and stronger. He is about 7 lbs 10 oz is what they measured him around. My belly is still really small they say, so I don't know where he is hiding :) Mikal says I snore too much and give him anxiety at night so he has been sleeping in the other room. I haven't been sleeping good at all. I wake up in the middle of the night with heartburn randomly. It hurts to roll from one side to the other. I haven't seen any swelling in my feet or hands, and still no stretch marks :) He is growing bigger and bigger, the doctor said about 1/2 a pound a week now. I may give birth to a 9 pound baby! 😕 He has a big head from what the ultrasound tech said, which would explain why my pelvic bone has been having a lot of pressure for a couple months.
We got things set up in the bedroom for the baby to sleep and for my mom and Whitney Wood to come. I am very tired all the time. I get exhausted really quickly. He has not dropped yet, so it is hard to breath and my ribs feel like they keep getting pushed up.
I was able to get a new bra to help with the pressure on my ribs. I went with my friend Danica to get a nursing bra. Hoping that it fits properly and does not give me any problems.
37 Weeks
I did not take a picture this week. I have been feeling extremely uncomfortable. I went to my appointment and Mikal wanted to see if I was making any progress. I told him that I did not feel any progress, but the doctor checked me anyway. She said I was close to having his head start to drop. When she was done checking, she found out that I have a yeast infection. I have to make medicine to clear it up. We do not want the baby to come out with an infection because of me. Sleeping is very hard now. I wake up a lot and every time I turn still it hurts so bad! We eat ice cream a lot still to help with the heartburn. I got a little key chain fob from Wendy's for free mini frosty's for the whole year of 2019 and every time we go to the pool to exercise I stop and get one on the way home :)
I have been trying to work as much as I can to get in hours to pay the bills. We got a little savings set aside, but it is not much to help with the whole time I will be out of the office.
Our friend Danica took these pictures before we went into the hospital!
39 Weeks- Today is the day we went in to have our little baby boy!
