August & September- End of Summer in good ol' Rexburg

August was a very slow month, but September was busy!
August:
Not much happened in August, expect that Mikal did a lot of wood building projects for people. He was out in our garage pretty much all day, every day. I was glad for that! I wasn't able to go home to Washington for the fair this year, and so the small Rexburg rodeo is the only "country" action I got this summer. 🐎

Mikal made this cedar chest for his little sister

September:
Labor Day weekend, my cousin Valerie got married in the Mount Timpanogas Temple and I was able to hang out with my mom! This was the first summer EVER that I was not able to go home to Washington one time. (that is 28 years guys!) We did a little bit of shopping, between the wedding and the reception, but mostly we just got to hang out with each other and just talk. It was nice. I LOVE my mom! We went for a drive Sunday afternoon up the Provo Canyon and did the Alpine loop and came out the Mount Timpanogas Canyon. It was so beautiful! My mom decided she is planning a trip there next August to hike to the top of the peak. We are pretty excited about that.
Kira contacted me during August and asked me if I would make her a shirt for Childhood Cancer Awareness for September. I have never done the iron on vinyl before so this was a new venture for me. I was able to get it cut out and had my friend iron on the vinyl. It turned out great! She is sure one STRONG mama! I also made a little "strong" for my nephew Everett as well, but haven't found a shirt to stick it on yet.

Melissa had her little baby girl in Mexico and she asked me to come down and help with everything for 11 whole days! I was excited to visit my sister and meet their new addition and visit the place they have called home for the past year and a half. We got to visit the pyramids, markets, cathedrals, and the zoo. Melissa was a trooper with her little girl and came out with us quite a few times with Jane only being a week old. While I was there Jane was very good at sleeping and being an easy baby.

I was to fly out of Boise, Idaho on September 11th, 2018. We decided to leave around 2 am in the morning from Rexburg to get Boise by 6 am since my flight went out at 7:40 am. I drove the whole way and we got passed Mountain Home and about 15 miles from Boise when the freeway came to a sudden stop. There was an accident on the freeway and it was blocking the road. No one was moving. We waited there for 1 hour and I was freaking out about making my flight. Mikal finally turned around on the freeway and we drove sooooo fast through the bad lands on a gravel road to try and make it, but we did not get to the airport until 7:45 am. I missed my flight. I was very upset and starving. I hadn't eaten anything and was very emotional.  I talked to the agents at the Delta desk and they told me that my flight was not refundable or exchangeable. I would have to pay a fee of $300 to get a flight at a later time or the next day. Mikal and I had maxed out our credit card (from the whole IVF procedure and trips) and they would not take Joseph's card over the phone. We were in a bind. I looked at the Cabela's credit card Mikal had and there was just enough to buy the ticket. So we bought the ticket for 11:00 am that day. We ran to the store to get something to eat and get me some snacks for the plane and then headed back to the airport. The flights went well and I made it to Mexico City at 10:00 pm. Joseph met me at the airport and then had the 2 hour bus ride to Puebla and got there around 12:30 am in the morning. I was exhausted.
Oliver finally got used to me being there, but poor little guy was sick with a cough and cold. He just wanted his Dad all the time.
The only time I got sick and threw up during my pregnancy, was while I was down there. It was pretty lame. I don't know if it was because I was not used to all the smells or I couldn't just go eat what I wanted since the food down there is so different. We celebrated Joseph's birthday down there as well and got to hit a fun pinata that Oliver picked out. I had a blast down there, but it was so good to be back in the states. Eating what I wanted, the traffic laws, and just to be in my own bed.
The drivers down there and the roads are the worst! There are crazy drivers and no one obeys the law. There are pot holes everywhere and random speed bumps that are just super annoying. It was crazy! Never experienced anything like that before. I have no clue why people would want to "go back to Mexico to live."

I emailed Delta when I got home and wrote them asking if I could get my money refunded for the ticket and they actually gave me back the money on the card. I was so very thankful for that!

Monday after I got back, I was able to go to my first doctor's appointment and do my first ultrasound at 13 weeks. Mikal had left Sunday afternoon to go to Washington to pick up 3 bins of apples to bring back to sell in Idaho. I told him that nothing big would happen at the appointment, but the ultrasound tech said, I can tell you the gender of the baby if you would like!? I felt bad and told her to put it in an envelope and I would wait for Mikal. I called him and he told me to open the envelope. He was pretty emotional when I told him it was a baby boy! A little hunting buddy for him! We only told family since I was 13 weeks and we would wait until the next appointment to make sure.

September is childhood cancer awareness and because of that, Mikal decided to BIC shave his head in honor of little Everett. He was pretty excited to do it.

We didn't sell the apples as fast as we wanted and did not make as much as we wanted, but it helped pay some of our daily bills off which was nice.
