January & February 2018 --Taxes and no snow!

| Mikal driving home from work one morning |
This tax season started out pretty slow. I kept waiting and waiting for the wave of people to call in an start scheduling appointments, but it didn't happen until the last week of January. It was a lot different than the past 2 years. It has been pretty busy lately now at the office and Mikal and I have not done too much lately together. We have just been working and wondering about this weird winter that we have been having. We prayed for snow so that Mikal could go out and work, but it has been one of the warmest winters ever here. It was super warm from the end of January through mid-February. All the snow had melted and the grass was starting to turn green!
Mikal thought he would have time to train his Uncle Darren's pup, Ann, during the winter time. Ann is a boxer and lab mix. She is a happy puppy and Sage loved playing with her. They had a lot of fun together, but often times got into trouble. A LOT of trouble. They started chewing the deck, pooping all over the yard, ripping up Sage's pillow, getting into the trash, etc. All things that Sage had finally grown out of, or so we thought. Ann started training her to do all those things all over again! It was horrible. I was having anxiety attacks and getting so frustrated with Sage and all the work we had done to get her where she was. There was one final thing that I couldn't handle and was when Ann and Sage had gotten into so much trouble one day that Mikal kenneled both of them for the day. That next morning I got woken up by Mikal telling me to get out of bed ASAP. Ann had been whining that night and Mikal was tired of here whining because she wanted to get out and play at nights. So he put the collar on her and started to shock her when she would whine. It must have scared her so bad that she peed all over, had diarrhea EVERYWHERE in her kennel, and even puked. It was so NASTY.
Mikal has been helping out with getting some projects done for my little Edgy Barnwood business. He has enjoyed that. He has loved it! He has been working on a cedar chest for his sister Gabriella.
We were able to go see Lindsey Stirling in concert at BYU-Idaho. She was AMAZING. Her music and talent is unbelievable! Her energy was something I had never seen before. She also was a great speaker as well. She bore her testimony of the gospel so many times and just has a strong desire to do what is right. As we left the concert, I told Mikal that I wanted to learn how to play the violin. He just laughed. 😊
For Mikal's birthday we went to Elko, Nevada to visit out friends Tyrel an Whitney Wood. It was so nice to just hang out with friends and not worry about anything else! We got to play with Taylee an Tell and we went for a drive up the canyon and got to see the mountains. This was the first time that I have ever been to northern Nevada. It is definitely a mining town. We went to dinner that night with Whitney and Tyrel at a nice sushi restaurant. Mikal tried mussels for the first time and took a bite an bit something hard. Must have been a shell or a rock. He had ordered unlimited sushi rolls and could only eat half of one.. haha. Tyrel convinced the waiter to let us take all the rolls home (which is not allowed) and we got to take about 4 sushi rolls home! I also gambled for the first time every at the slot machines. They are so boring and I do not know how they are so fun to others! Blah. Spent 3 dollars and that was enough for my fun.
I have been horrible at taking pictures lately, so I am sorry that there are not really any pictures for this blog!
The following weekend we went to the Hibachi grill down in Idaho Falls for Mikal and Isabel's birthday dinner. Nora has claimed it as a tradition for their birthday. 💗 We love eating there!
Mikal has now started plowing a little bit more and it has been nice to have the extra income. I sure hope that he can start working a little bit more now. We finally have a nice, big, storm coming our way! He is working in driggs and has to go down there every time it snows now, but he is definitely liking the random hours.
